Update on Cape Meares Water Conservation

The replacement valve was successfully installed at the Cape Meares treatment plant Wednesday evening. Water from Coleman Creek is currently being treated and stored in the Cape Meares reservoir. At the point when the repair was completed the level was 6.3 feet or about 25% capacity. This meant that the conservation efforts by Cape Meares residents were successful and greatly appreciated. Thank you. Conservation signs will be pulled this afternoon, Friday May 30th.

PLEASE CONSERVE WATER IN CAPE MEARES UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Late on May 23 a critical pressure reducer valve failed at the Cape Meares Treatment plant which means water from Coleman Creek cannot be treated.  Attempts were made to overnight the valve for an emergency repair, but the Memorial Day holiday has made this impossible.  The soonest the repair can be made is next Tuesday.  Since the Cape Meares tank was filled to capacity on Friday in preparation for the holiday sufficient water should be available if conservation measures are followed.  Water use will be monitored.  The water district regrets this inconvenience. WATER USAGE IN OCEANSIDE IS NOT AFFECTED.
